One pill could cure deadly sleeping sickness

NCT ID NCT03087955

Summary

This study tested whether a single oral dose of a drug called acoziborole could safely and effectively treat African sleeping sickness. The trial involved 208 patients with either early or late stages of the disease, who took three tablets and were then monitored for 18 months. Researchers wanted to see if this simple, one-time treatment could eliminate the parasite that causes this serious illness.
