Is knee surgery safe after 50? new study compares results to younger patients

NCT ID NCT07387939

Summary

This study aims to see if ACL reconstruction surgery, which repairs a torn knee ligament, works as well for patients over 50 as it does for younger patients. Researchers will compare the recovery, knee stability, and return to sports in 56 people—half over 50 and half under 40—who had the surgery. The goal is to provide better guidance on whether surgery is a good option for active older adults with this common injury.
