Stump suturing may reduce tunnel widening after ACL surgery
NCT ID NCT07236593
First seen Nov 19, 2025 · Last updated May 25, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 190 people who had ACL knee surgery to see if leaving and stitching the torn ligament stump could prevent the bone tunnel from widening. Half had the stump preserved and sutured, the other half had it removed as usual. After 12 months, CT scans measured tunnel changes to compare the two methods.
