Baby belly rubs may boost jaundice treatment

NCT ID NCT07388732

First seen Feb 05, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study looked at whether gentle abdominal massage, given once or twice a day, could help full-term newborns with jaundice who are already receiving phototherapy (light treatment). The idea is that massage might stimulate bowel movements, helping the body get rid of bilirubin faster. Researchers compared 35 babies split into three groups: massage once daily, massage twice daily, or standard care alone.
