New pill aims to control chronic hepatitis b

NCT ID NCT05960240

First seen Apr 15, 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This early-stage study tested a new oral drug called AB-101 in 128 people. The goal was to check its safety and how the body processes it. First, healthy volunteers received single or multiple doses. Then, people with chronic hepatitis B received multiple doses. The drug works by blocking a protein called PD-L1 to help the immune system fight the virus. This is not a cure, but a potential way to control the infection.
