New PET scan could spot hidden heart clots in amyloidosis patients

NCT ID NCT07560306

First seen May 03, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special PET scan can detect blood clots inside the heart of people with cardiac amyloidosis and atrial fibrillation. Twenty participants will receive an injection of a tracer that binds to clots, then undergo a combined PET/MRI scan. The goal is to see if this method finds clots as well as the standard ultrasound test, potentially offering a less invasive way to detect dangerous clots early.
