New scan may predict immunotherapy success in lung cancer
NCT ID NCT03564197
First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested a new type of PET scan that looks for a protein called PD-L1 in tumors. The goal was to see if this scan could predict which patients with advanced lung cancer would benefit from the immunotherapy drug nivolumab. Eighty patients received the scan before starting treatment, and researchers tracked how long their cancer stayed under control. The study aimed to improve how doctors choose treatments, not to test a new therapy itself.
