First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 34 times

Summary

This study looked at whether two substances in the blood, zonulin and interleukin-8, are linked to confusion (delirium) after hip fracture surgery. Researchers measured these markers before and after surgery in 73 older adults. The goal was to see if these markers could help predict who might develop confusion, not to treat or prevent it.
