New shot tested to halt dangerous Muscle-Weakening crises

NCT ID NCT07215949

Summary

This study is testing whether daily injections of the drug zilucoplan can quickly relieve the most severe symptoms of a myasthenia gravis flare-up, such as breathing or swallowing problems, in people who need to be hospitalized. The goal is to see if this treatment works faster and is less invasive than current standard hospital treatments like plasma exchange. About 15 adults with a specific type of myasthenia gravis will receive the injections for 12 weeks to measure symptom improvement.
