Yoga may ease depression and improve heart rhythm in seniors
NCT ID NCT07340840
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether a 10-week recreational yoga program could improve emotional well-being and heart health in nursing home residents aged 65 and older. Thirty-six participants were randomly assigned to either yoga sessions or no intervention. Researchers measured depression levels, leisure satisfaction, and heart rate variability before and after the program. The goal was to see if yoga is a safe, low-cost way to support both mental and physical health in older adults.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, drug-free way to improve mood and heart health in older adults living in nursing homes.
