NCT ID NCT07761013

First seen Aug 12, 2026 · Last updated Aug 13, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This trial tests whether Yanlishuang buccal dropping pills, a traditional Miao medicine, can relieve the sore throat and pain of acute pharyngitis. About 400 adults with a sore throat that started within the last 48 hours will be randomly assigned to take either the herbal drops or a placebo for up to 5 days. The main goal is to see how quickly the sore throat completely resolves, with secondary measures looking at immediate pain relief and other symptoms.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Yanlishuang Buccal Dropping Pills (a Miao medicine containing natural borneol, Blumea balsamifera oil, peppermint oil, menthol, and monoammonium glycyrrhizinate)
What this could lead to
If effective, this could offer a new, non-prescription-like option for quickly soothing sore throats and reducing pain from acute pharyngitis.
What could go wrong
This is an early-stage trial, and the placebo effect for pain relief can be strong. The results may not show a clear benefit, and the herbal ingredients could cause side effects in some people.
