First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 12 times
Summary
This study tests whether dental wipes containing xylitol, a natural sugar that limits bacteria growth in the mouth, can reduce bloodstream infections in children and young adults (ages 1-25) with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Participants will use either xylitol wipes or plain wipes during chemotherapy. The goal is to see if the wipes lower infection rates, which can be serious or even fatal in these patients.
