Summary
This study was designed to see if chewing gum containing a natural sweetener called xylitol could prevent new cavities in children. It planned to involve schoolchildren aged 5-14 in Ladakh, India, who would chew the gum several times a day during the school year. The goal was to compare two different strengths of xylitol gum to see which was better at reducing tooth decay.
