First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a weekly application of Xcell Amnio Matrix, a processed amniotic membrane, can help heal diabetic foot ulcers better than standard care alone. About 135 adults with diabetes and a foot ulcer that hasn't healed in 4 weeks to 1 year will take part. The main goal is to see if more wounds close completely within 12 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

- Xcell Amnio Matrix (a processed amniotic membrane allograft)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a new option to help heal diabetic foot ulcers faster and more completely.
- What could go wrong
- This is an early-stage trial with only 135 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The treatment is added to standard care, and its benefits beyond standard care are unproven.
