Scientists zap blood cells to make cancer surgery safer

NCT ID NCT07416045

Summary

This study aims to understand how radiation used during cancer surgery affects a patient's own red blood cells. Researchers will collect blood from 20 cancer patients during surgery and test how different radiation doses change the cells' shape, flexibility, and ability to carry oxygen. The goal is to find the safest radiation dose for processing blood that's collected and returned to patients during operations.
