Can writing your future story curb risky drinking after college?

NCT ID NCT07418424

Summary

This study tests whether a simple writing exercise can help college graduates reduce risky drinking as they transition to adult life. Researchers are enrolling 468 soon-to-graduate students who drink at concerning levels and have some interest in changing their habits. Participants will write about their future desired or feared selves in relation to alcohol, then complete follow-up surveys for a year to see if this changes their drinking identity and behaviors.
