Wrap therapy shows promise for rare skin disease sufferers
NCT ID NCT05979506
First seen Apr 24, 2026 · Last updated Apr 25, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether three specialized wrap treatments—a therapeutic bath followed by heavy cream and occlusion—can reduce skin discomfort in people with moderate to very severe hereditary ichthyosis, a rare genetic condition causing scaly, painful skin. About 34 participants will receive the treatment from nurses, and researchers will measure changes in discomfort over 11 days. The goal is to see if this simple, expert-led care can offer short- and medium-term relief.
