Wisdom tooth swap: scientists test three nerve treatments for better smiles
NCT ID NCT07291531
First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study looks at the best way to handle the dental pulp (tooth nerve) when using your own healthy wisdom tooth to replace a damaged molar. Researchers will compare three strategies: standard root canal weeks later, a special root-tip treatment during surgery, or just trimming the root tip to keep the nerve alive. 360 people aged 18-40 will be randomly assigned to one group and followed for 5 years with check-ups and X-rays to see which method leads to the healthiest, longest-lasting tooth.
