Sound waves may unlock the brain in coma patients

NCT ID NCT06693492

First seen Feb 17, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study explores whether ultrasound, a low-cost and widely available tool, can help doctors better understand and treat people with disorders of consciousness, such as coma or a minimally conscious state. Researchers will use brain ultrasound to measure brain activity and track changes over time. The goal is to improve diagnosis and find new ways to help patients recover, without the need for expensive or hard-to-find equipment.
