Scientists probe skin stretch to predict heart risks in rare genetic disorder

NCT ID NCT02692846

Summary

This study aimed to understand how skin and blood vessel flexibility are related in people with Williams syndrome, a genetic disorder that can cause heart and blood vessel problems. Researchers measured the stretchiness of skin and arteries in 43 participants, including people with Williams syndrome and others with different connective tissue conditions. The goal was to see if simple skin tests could help predict who might develop more serious cardiovascular issues.
