New hope for safer births: testing a treatment to stop dangerous bleeding in women with a common blood disorder

NCT ID NCT04146376

Summary

This study aims to find the best way to prevent dangerous bleeding during and after childbirth for women with von Willebrand disease (VWD), a common bleeding disorder. It will test if giving a clotting factor replacement drug (Wilate) to keep blood clotting levels very high during delivery and moderately high afterwards is safe and effective. The main goal is to see if this approach reduces the rate of severe postpartum hemorrhage (very heavy bleeding).
