Could a simple protein drink help pregnant women avoid diabetes?

NCT ID NCT06170905

Summary

This small pilot study tested if drinking a whey protein shake before a sugary drink could help lower blood sugar spikes in pregnant women. The goal was to explore a simple dietary strategy to help prevent gestational diabetes. Twenty-one healthy pregnant women participated, each taking two sugar tolerance tests—one with and one without the protein pre-drink—to compare results.
