New drug aims to help people lose fat while keeping muscle

NCT ID NCT06445075

Summary

This study tested whether adding an experimental drug called apitegromab to a standard weight loss medication (tirzepatide) could help overweight and obese adults lose weight more effectively. Researchers wanted to see if the combination could help people lose fat while preserving their muscle mass. The 24-week trial involved 102 adults without diabetes who were randomly assigned to receive either apitegromab or a placebo alongside their weight loss medication.
