Weight-Loss drug tested as potential fix for uncontrollable hair pulling

NCT ID NCT07282769

Summary

This small, early-stage study is testing if a weekly injection of semaglutide (sold as Wegovy for weight loss) can help adults with trichotillomania, a disorder that causes strong urges to pull out one's own hair. Ten participants will receive the drug for eight weeks to see if it reduces their hair-pulling urges and behaviors. The goal is to gather initial data on a new possible treatment for a condition with very few medication options.
