Smart wearable rehab after knee surgery: skip the clinic?

NCT ID NCT07549867

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a wearable device and smartphone app can help people recover knee function at home after surgery for a discoid meniscus (a misshapen knee cartilage). Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to either in-person rehab at a clinic or remote rehab using the wearable device. Both groups follow the same exercises, and their progress is tracked for six months to compare knee function, pain, and satisfaction.

Active substance

telerehabilitation program using wearable devices and a smartphone app

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a convenient, effective way to recover from knee surgery at home instead of traveling to a clinic.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The technology might not work as well as in-person rehab for some patients.
