Smart wearable rehab after knee surgery: skip the clinic?
NCT ID NCT07549867
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a wearable device and smartphone app can help people recover knee function at home after surgery for a discoid meniscus (a misshapen knee cartilage). Sixty participants will be randomly assigned to either in-person rehab at a clinic or remote rehab using the wearable device. Both groups follow the same exercises, and their progress is tracked for six months to compare knee function, pain, and satisfaction.

- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could offer a convenient, effective way to recover from knee surgery at home instead of traveling to a clinic.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early-stage trial with only 60 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The technology might not work as well as in-person rehab for some patients.
