Baby monitor study aims to stop sudden newborn collapse

NCT ID NCT07213401

Summary

This study is testing a comfortable, wearable device that monitors a newborn's heart rate and breathing during the first few days of life. The goal is to spot early warning signs of a rare but dangerous event called sudden unexpected postnatal collapse (SUPC) so doctors can act quickly. It will involve 5,000 healthy, full-term newborns to see if this continuous monitoring can help prevent these serious events.
