Baby monitor band could save newborns from sudden collapse

NCT ID NCT07213401

Summary

This study is testing a soft, wearable monitor on 5,000 healthy newborns to see if it can spot early warning signs of a rare but dangerous event called sudden unexpected postnatal collapse (SUPC). The device tracks the baby's heart rate and breathing during the first 2-3 days of life, especially during skin-to-skin contact with parents. The goal is to give doctors an early alert so they can step in quickly and potentially prevent a collapse.
