First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study will observe 900 adults in intensive care units (ICUs) in low- and middle-income countries who are being taken off breathing machines (mechanical ventilators). Researchers will track patients for 7 days after the breathing tube is removed to see if they need to go back on the machine or die. The goal is to understand current practices and identify ways to improve weaning success.
