Training teachers to boost activity in autistic kids: a new trial
NCT ID NCT07747129
First seen Aug 05, 2026 · Last updated Aug 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This trial tests whether an online training for preschool teachers, called WE PLAY, can increase physical activity among young children with autism. About 150 teacher-child pairs will be randomly assigned to either the WE PLAY training or a control training. The study measures children's activity levels using accelerometers and surveys teachers' attitudes and practices over 20 weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- WE PLAY, an online training program for early childhood educators to promote physical activity in autistic preschoolers
- What this could lead to
- If effective, this training could be widely adopted in preschools, helping autistic children become more active and gain long-term health and developmental benefits.
- What could go wrong
- The trial is still testing efficacy, and results may not apply to all settings. Success depends on teachers' consistent use of the training, and the study's short follow-up may not capture lasting effects.
