Vaginal infections may worsen surgical wounds, new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06070454

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether common vaginal infections (like yeast or bacterial vaginosis) increase the risk of wound problems after vulvar surgery for non-cancerous growths. About 91 adults will be tested with a simple swab before surgery, then checked one week and 4-6 weeks after. The goal is to see if treating these infections beforehand could help prevent complications.
