Supercharged immune cells take on post-transplant viruses

NCT ID NCT04331275

First seen Nov 05, 2025 · Last updated May 10, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study tests whether specially grown immune cells (VSTs) can safely treat viral infections that often occur after a solid organ transplant. About 42 participants who have a transplant and a high level of a specific virus will receive their own custom-made VSTs. The goal is to find a better way to fight these infections without relying on strong anti-viral drugs that can harm the kidneys or lower blood counts.
