Doctors try VR to confront hidden weight bias

NCT ID NCT07283523

Summary

This pilot study is testing whether watching virtual reality (VR) videos of patient encounters can help reduce weight-based bias in resident physicians. Researchers will compare VR videos showing clinical encounters to neutral educational videos to see if they change doctors' implicit bias scores. The study involves about 52 resident doctors from Brigham and Women's Hospital who will take bias tests before and after the VR experience.
