Mind over fear: can imagining success make VR therapy stick?
NCT ID NCT07323498
Summary
This study is testing if a special mental exercise after virtual reality (VR) therapy can help people with public speaking anxiety feel less fear in new, real-world situations. Adults with significant speech anxiety will do a single VR speech practice session, then be randomly assigned to either just review the session in their mind or do a guided imagination exercise picturing success in new scenarios. The main goal is to see if the imagination exercise helps the benefits of the VR practice 'transfer' better to unfamiliar speaking settings one to two weeks later.
