Surgeons use VR goggles to map and fight cancer

NCT ID NCT05031910

Summary

This study is testing whether using virtual reality (VR) to create a 3D map of a patient's tumor before surgery helps surgeons operate more precisely. The goal is to remove all the cancer while sparing healthy tissue, which could lead to fewer repeat procedures and better long-term results. About 160 patients with head and neck cancer will be randomly assigned to have their surgery planned with or without this VR technology.
