VR goggles aim to distract kids from needle pain

NCT ID NCT04479735

Summary

This study tested whether using virtual reality (VR) goggles could help reduce pain and anxiety for hospitalized children and teens during routine blood draws. Researchers compared the standard procedure (which included a numbing cream) to the standard procedure plus VR distraction. The goal was to see if the immersive experience of VR could make a common but stressful medical procedure easier for young patients.
