First seen Feb 18, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 15 times

Summary

This study tested whether a virtual reality (VR) experience can help workers recover from stress more quickly. Sixty healthy adults were put under stress and then randomly assigned to either a VR relaxation session or a control condition. Researchers measured stress by checking cortisol levels in saliva and asking participants how stressed they felt. The goal was to see if VR could speed up the body's return to a calm state.
