Virtual reality goggles tested to ease pain of back injections

NCT ID NCT05505968

Summary

This study tested whether using a virtual reality headset could help reduce pain and anxiety for patients receiving epidural injections for lower back and leg pain. 116 patients were randomly assigned to receive their first injection with VR and their second without, or vice versa. The goal was to see if the immersive distraction of VR made the potentially painful medical procedure easier to tolerate.
