VR games get ICU patients moving and lifting spirits

NCT ID NCT06797895

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study explores whether playing virtual reality games can help adults in the intensive care unit move their arms and hands more, and improve feelings of anxiety, depression, or loneliness. About 30 people who have been in the ICU for at least 3 days and have trouble moving will try a VR game at least once a day. The research team will measure how much nursing time is needed and how easy patients find the game to use.
