Summary

This trial tests whether virtual reality nature scenes or calming music can help women with vaginismus—a condition causing involuntary pelvic muscle tightening—complete a transvaginal ultrasound with less pain and anxiety. About 90 women who have not been able to have vaginal intercourse despite standard care will be randomly assigned to receive standard care alone, virtual reality, music, or both during the procedure. The study measures how many successfully finish the ultrasound and how they rate their pain, anxiety, and satisfaction.
