New drug aims to keep brain tumors at bay after standard therapy
NCT ID NCT06809322
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Aug 12, 2026 · Updated 5 times
Summary
This phase 3 trial tests whether the drug vorasidenib can delay tumor progression in people with IDH-mutant grade 2 or 3 astrocytoma after they finish initial chemoradiotherapy. About 468 participants will receive either vorasidenib or a placebo daily. The main goal is to see if vorasidenib extends the time before the tumor grows back.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- Vorasidenib
- What this could lead to
- If successful, vorasidenib could delay tumor regrowth after standard treatment, giving people with this brain cancer more time without progression.
- What could go wrong
- This is a phase 3 trial, but results are not yet known. The drug may not improve outcomes over placebo, and side effects could occur. It is not a cure.
