Zapping away AFib: new device shows promise in heart rhythm trial

NCT ID NCT06223789

First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 5 times

Summary

This study tested a new system that uses targeted electrical pulses to treat atrial fibrillation (AFib), a common heart rhythm problem. 392 people with symptomatic AFib that didn't improve with medication received the procedure. The goal was to see if the system is safe and can restore normal heart rhythm for at least a year, reducing the need for ongoing drugs.
