New approach aims to spot vocal cord cancer earlier
NCT ID NCT04006197
Summary
This study tested whether combining a special vocal cord camera (laryngostroboscopy) with standard tissue analysis could better diagnose unusual growths on vocal cords. Researchers studied 100 adult men with white patches or irregularities on their vocal cords to see if this combined method could more accurately tell if a growth was harmless, pre-cancerous, or cancerous. They also looked at whether a specific gene (SOX2) could help with diagnosis.
