First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study looked at whether giving vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) during heart surgery could reduce heart muscle damage in children with a heart condition called Tetralogy of Fallot. 58 children aged 1-10 years having corrective surgery were given either vitamin E or a placebo at the start of surgery. The main goal was to measure troponin I, a marker of heart injury, after the operation.
