First seen Jan 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 142 children aged 5-6 to see if their mothers' vitamin D levels early in pregnancy were linked to how well their lungs worked. Researchers measured airway resistance, a sign of breathing difficulty, and compared kids whose mothers had low vitamin D (<20 ng/ml) to those with higher levels. The goal was to understand if vitamin D plays a role in early lung development and later asthma risk.
