Vitamin d trial aims to shield ICU patients from kidney damage

NCT ID NCT02962102

Summary

This study tested whether giving activated forms of vitamin D could prevent or lessen acute kidney injury in critically ill patients in the ICU. Researchers enrolled 150 adults at high risk for kidney problems to see if the treatment reduced the need for dialysis or death. The goal was to see if boosting vitamin D levels could help control this serious complication.
