Vitamin B3 tested as potential lifeline for sudden vision loss
NCT ID NCT07258667
Summary
This study is testing whether a high daily dose of nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) can help preserve or improve vision in people with Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy (LHON), a rare genetic disease that causes sudden, severe vision loss. It will enroll 13 people who developed LHON symptoms within the last 18 months and have specific genetic mutations. The main goal is to see if taking the supplement for a year leads to measurable improvements in eyesight.
