Doctors probe link between hospital pain gas and vitamin deficiency in sick kids

NCT ID NCT06581900

Summary

This study aims to understand if a common pain-relief gas (MEOPA) used during hospital stays for sickle cell pain crises affects vitamin B12 levels in children. Researchers will measure vitamin B12 and related substances in the blood and urine of 29 children aged 2-18 during and after their hospitalization. The goal is to gather information to see if certain children are at higher risk and if exposure guidelines need adjustment.
