New hope for stroke recovery: light-based training may boost arm movement
NCT ID NCT07055945
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether adding visual-motor training (using lights to guide movement) to standard physiotherapy can improve arm and hand function in people who have had a stroke. 38 participants will be assigned to either standard therapy alone or standard therapy plus visual-motor training for 8 weeks. Researchers will measure muscle tone, motor skills, and coordination before and after treatment.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
visual-motor based training plus physiotherapy
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, non-drug way to improve arm and hand movement after a stroke.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 38 people. The results may not apply to everyone, and the added benefit of visual-motor training over standard therapy alone is uncertain.
