Microscope camera could replace skin biopsies

NCT ID NCT07188948

First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026

Summary

This study tests a new device called VIO/FG-30350 that takes microscopic images of the skin without cutting it. Researchers will look at 15 people with and without skin conditions to see if the device's images can show melanin content and match what the skin looks like on the surface. The goal is to better understand skin health without invasive procedures.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could improve how doctors assess skin health and conditions like actinic keratosis without needing a biopsy.

What could go wrong

This is a very small, early-stage study with only 15 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The device is for observation only and does not treat any condition.
