New training aims to teach eyes to see around blind spots

NCT ID NCT07577219

First seen May 12, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether a 5-week eye training program using visual and sound feedback can help people with central vision loss (from macular degeneration) use their peripheral vision more effectively. About 12 participants will do eye-tracking exercises while getting real-time cues to improve eye movement control. The goal is to see if this approach can improve reading, face recognition, and navigation, and potentially lead to home-based training using virtual reality.
